Extremely rare (and somewhat obscure) US-only radio promotion 1-track CDR single which contains an otherwise unavailable 5:14 studio recording of “American Skin”. Slimline jewel case with white paper inlay featuring basic track info and a date of "April 24, 2001", while the disc itself has an "April 23, 2001" imprint; a second version - minus insert - also exists with two different dates (“April 19, 2001” and “Source Date: April 18, 2001”) printed onto the disc.

I’ll Stand By You Always (Song For Harry Potter) / My Hometown (live) / This Hard Land (live) (COLUMBIA; no catalogue number)
US-only Columbia “in-house” promo CDR EP that contains Bruce’s original version of his 2001 composition “I’ll Stand By You Always”; a ballad he originally wrote for his youngest son Sam Ryan and later donated to the soundtrack of the first “Harry Potter” film, “Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone” (hence the title “Song For Harry Potter”), although it ultimately wasn’t used for that movie (read more details here). To this day, the song remains unreleased and uncirculated in any form, except for this indescribably rare disc, of which probably no more than 5 copies - distributed exclusively to top Columbia executives and of course never reaching the open collectors’ market - were ever made. The two additional tracks are the same live recordings that appeared on the bonus CD single included with the “Live In New York City” DVD (see below).

Very rare Japanese version of the above CD single that, as opposed to the rest of the world, was not made available with the “Live In New York City” DVD in Japan. Instead, the Japanese DVD merely contained a coupon for a competition entry to win copies, only a handful of which have reached the collectors' market in recent years.

The Rising (Europe: COL SAMPCS 11877 / US: COL CSK 58940)
1-track promotional advance CD issued in slimline jewel case with picture insert. The European pressing comes as a white disc with red title graphics, whereas the US version is plain silver. Also released in Australia as a black disc with silver title graphics (COL SAMP 2483), although there was no commercial version of the single in that country.

Similar picture inserts for either pressing, but the US issue comes in a standard jewel case as opposed to the European slimline case. The European version is notable for carrying the catalog number 672997 9 on its insert, while the disc itself features a different code of 672997 1 (which, incidentally, also was used for a simultaneously released Austrian cardboard sleeve variant of this single).

Note that all four tracks have been previously available on earlier CD singles/EP's.

1-track promotional CDR single issued in the U.K. and the Netherlands with similar colour picture inserts, but differently designed discs. The UK version (shown below center) again came in a clear stickered plastic sleeve, while the Dutch release (below far right) featured slimline jewel case packaging. Numerous copies of the latter variant were given out for free to attendees of a special “High Hopes” album release/pre-sale party held in Amersfoort, Holland, on January 9, 2014, which was organized by the Dutch “Be True” Springsteen fan club.
